At this time of this writing, Nicole is trying to can 20 pounds of peaches and manage the comings and goings of two teenagers, and Rebecca is trying to get internet installed in her home and ensure her kids do their summer workbooks.

Every writer we coach has obligations outside of writing the next Great American Novel, whether it’s family life, a day job, chronic health complications, or just the next wave of busy.

When we talk writers through the schedule of writing and editing a book, they often fall into two camps and say:

  1. OMG, I have to set aside my entire life to get this done, so let’s do it in 2 months.

  2. OMG, I where am I going to find the time? It’s going to take 24 months.

Yet, what we always find is the sweet spot—managing a big, creative project while keeping everything else in life spinning.
